Snow day? Here's where to check.
School closings and delays are decided by each school district, not by us or the National Weather Service. This page links straight to every La Porte County district's official site, next to what the Weather Service says right now.
Check your school's own announcement.
Each district posts closings, delays and e-learning days on its own website, and most also send them by text, email or app. Signing up with your school is the fastest way to hear.
Private schools
Preschools, daycares, colleges and other private schools post their own decisions. We checked these links in October 2026; if one has moved, tell us.

We never predict school closings.
Districts weigh things a forecast can't see: whether country roads are plowed, bus routes, the wind chill at the bus stop, and staffing. A guess from us could send a child out on a day school is closed, so we point you to the people who decide and pass along the Weather Service's official warnings, never our own.
