Good: rain chance under 20%, wind 12 mph or less, 55–88°F. Fair: rain chance under 40%, wind 20 mph or less, 45–92°F. Poor: anything worse, or thunder in the forecast. Arrows point the way the wind is blowing. Daylight hours only. These ratings are our own rule of thumb built from the NWS numbers, not an official NWS product.

Weather tips for your round
⚡ When thunder roars, go indoors
If you can hear thunder, you're close enough to be struck. Get inside a building or a hard-topped car, not a cart, a tree or a rain shelter. The National Weather Service says to wait 30 minutes after the last thunder before going back out.
❄️ Frosty fall mornings
Frost can form when the air is in the mid-30s, and many courses hold the first tee times until it melts, because walking on frozen grass damages it. When we see a cold morning coming, we flag it above. Call the pro shop to check.
🌬️ Playing the wind
A common rule of thumb: into a 10 mph wind, take about one more club; with it behind you, about one less. Wind is usually lighter early and late in the day.
☀️ Heat and sun
On hot days, drink water before you're thirsty, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade. Heat exhaustion can come on fast over 18 holes in the sun.

Right on Lake Michigan, Michigan City's wind and temperature can differ from La Porte's. Switch the forecast at the top to Michigan City before you play there.
