Dry by day, but rain moves in tonight. Today, NWS says: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. South wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Tonight: Rain showers after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Wednesday: showers likely (60%), high near 67; gusts as high as 30 mph. Thursday through Sunday: a chance of showers at times (20 to 40%), highs 52 to 60. NWS says a low around 61 tonight; our blend of NWS and four computer models says 52, so that's our forecast. The models disagree on tonight's low, so that is less certain.
What changed in NWS's forecast since yesterday's Scoop: Wednesday's chance of rain is now 60% (from 90%), the rain is out of Wednesday night's forecast (it was 30%) and the rain is out of Thursday's forecast (it was 20%). NWS Northern Indiana forecasters' key messages this morning: "Breezy and dry today with record-challenging warmth. Southerly wind gusts of 25 mph to perhaps 35 mph." "Rain arrives from west to east late tonight. Breezy with lingering showers through Wednesday."
Right now there are no watches, warnings or advisories for La Porte County or for Porter and Lake counties next door. SPC shows only general thunderstorms here Wednesday, none today and Thursday, and WPC shows no flooding-rain risk at La Porte through Saturday.
