A slight chance of showers near 61; rain possible Monday

Mostly dry today, with a 20% chance of a passing shower. Today, NWS says: A slight chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a high near 61. Tonight: A slight chance of rain showers before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 50. The La Porte airport at 4:15 a.m.: cloudy and 50.

Dry Sunday, high near 66. Monday: a chance of showers (30%), high near 65. Tuesday: showers likely (60%), high near 71; Tuesday night showers likely (60%). Wednesday: showers likely (70%), high near 66; Wednesday night a chance of showers (50%). Thursday: a chance of showers (30%), high near 64. The models disagree on Monday's high, so that is less certain.

What changed in NWS's forecast since yesterday's Scoop: the rain is out of Sunday's forecast (it was 20%) and the rain is out of Sunday night's forecast (it was 20%). NWS Northern Indiana forecasters' key messages this morning: "20% chance for isolated showers or sprinkles today, especially west of I-69. Plenty of dry hours otherwise. Little, if any impacts expected for Halloween evening." "Very warm on Tuesday followed by increasing rain chances through Wednesday (60% chance)." Yesterday we said a high of 64 and a low of 43; the La Porte airport got 59 and 39.

Right now there are no watches, warnings or advisories for La Porte County or for Porter and Lake counties next door. SPC shows no thunderstorm or severe risk here through Monday, and WPC shows no flooding-rain risk at La Porte through Wednesday.
