A great day to be outside. Today, NWS says: Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. The La Porte airport at 4:35 a.m.: clear and 50.
Mostly sunny and dry Wednesday, high near 73. Thursday through Sunday: a chance of showers at times (20 to 50%), highs 69 to 74. NWS says a low around 55 Wednesday night; our blend of NWS and four computer models says 52, so that's our forecast. The models disagree on Thursday's high, so that is less certain.
What changed in NWS's forecast since yesterday's Scoop: Thursday's chance of rain is now 50% (from 30%). NWS Northern Indiana forecasters' key messages this morning: "Warm and dry conditions persist through tomorrow with highs generally in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s." "Light rain is possible on Thursday. The best chances (50-80%) will be near Lake Michigan." Yesterday we said a high of 70; the La Porte airport got 66.
Right now there are no watches, warnings or advisories for La Porte County or for Porter and Lake counties next door. SPC shows no thunderstorm or severe risk here through Thursday, and WPC shows no flooding-rain risk at La Porte through Saturday.
