Warm and dry, high near 77; Sunday stays dry, Columbus Day near 82

A partly sunny, dry Saturday near 77 leads to a dry Sunday near 73 and a warm Columbus Day near 82, with showers and storms possible Monday night into Tuesday and no watches, warnings or advisories for La Porte County.

A warm, dry Saturday: a great day to be outside. Today: partly sunny, high near 77, south wind around 10 mph, and NWS's hour-by-hour chances keep work hours dry. Tonight: mostly cloudy, low around 57. The La Porte airport's latest available reading is from 8:06 p.m. Friday: cloudy and 64.

Sunday: partly sunny, high near 73, and NWS's La Porte forecast now keeps it dry. Columbus Day: mostly sunny and warm, near 82 (our blend of NWS and the computer models says 83). A slight chance of showers and storms arrives after 7 p.m. Monday, then a 30% chance through Tuesday morning; Tuesday near 73. The models disagree a lot on Tuesday's high, so that day is less certain. Showers are possible again Wednesday and Thursday (30% to 50%), highs 66 to 68, then cooler Friday near 61.

What changed since yesterday's Scoop: the Sunday-morning shower chance is gone from La Porte's forecast (from 30%), and Columbus Day is warmer, near 82 (from 79). NWS Northern Indiana forecasters say Isaias's leftover rain tonight into Sunday morning should favor areas east of I-69, with up to half an inch there, and that later next week turns active with gusty winds and showers, then colder next weekend, though how cold and how wet is still in question. Yesterday we said a high of 71; the La Porte airport got 73.

Right now there are no watches, warnings or advisories for La Porte County, northern or southern, or for Porter and Lake counties next door. SPC shows no severe-storm risk here through Monday night, only general thunderstorms possible Monday, and WPC shows no flooding-rain risk at La Porte through Wednesday.
