Dry through Tuesday — then on-and-off rain, with Thursday the wettest day
Patchy fog early, then sunny with a high near 69; dry through Tuesday, then showers return midweek, with the best chance (70%) on Thursday.
Today (Sunday): patchy fog before 7 a.m., then sunny, with a high near 69. The wind stays calm this morning and turns north around 5 mph this afternoon. It's a cool start, 45 degrees at the La Porte airport at 5:35 a.m., so if you're driving early, watch for fog in low spots. Tonight: partly cloudy and not as chilly, with a low around 51.
Monday: mostly sunny, high near 70. Monday night: mostly clear, low around 49. Tuesday: sunny and a little warmer, high near 73. Clouds move in Tuesday night, with a 20% chance of showers after 1 a.m. If you have outdoor work or projects, Monday and Tuesday are the dry days to get them done.
What changed since yesterday's Scoop: Wednesday dropped to a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms (from about 50%) and Wednesday night to 50% (from about 60%), while Thursday is now the wettest day, with showers likely and a 70% chance (up from about 60%). Showers stay possible Friday (40%) and next Saturday. Yesterday, NWS Northern Indiana forecasters named Saturday as their early pick for any stronger storms. Today they say the air looks too stable for much thunder through the late workweek, so this looks more like on-and-off rain than a stormy stretch. Their best chance for heavy rain is later Friday through Sunday, and only if a stalled front sets up just right. They expect the rain to clear out by early next week.
Right now there are no watches, warnings, or advisories for La Porte County. The Storm Prediction Center has no severe storm risk for La Porte today through Tuesday; in fact, it isn't forecasting severe storms anywhere in the country on Monday or Tuesday.
