Hard Hat Weather privacy policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
This policy covers Hard Hat Weather and its farm version, Field Day Weather, services of La Porte Weather Now LLC (“we” or “us”), La Porte, Indiana. It explains what we collect, why, and how we handle phone numbers and text message consent. The rest of laporteweathernow.com is covered by our site privacy policy.
What we collect
- When you sign up: your company, name, email, mobile number, trade, your job site addresses, how many job sites you have, which days and when your crews start, whether you'd like a call, and whether you agreed to get texts, with the exact wording you agreed to and the date.
- As we run your service: the map locations of your job sites, your work hours and weather limits, and the mobile numbers of the people who join your alerts by texting JOIN and your join code.
- When we send messages: what we sent, whether it was delivered, replies like STOP or HELP, and the language each phone gets its texts in.
- Spray records (farms): when someone texts SPRAYED and DONE, the field, the start and finish times, the phone and name that texted, any readings they text, and the forecast and weather station readings at the time. We keep these in your account records and email them to you.
- Calendar links: your calendar link has a private code in it. Anyone you give the link to can see your job sites' names and calls, so share it only with your team. Ask us for a new one any time.
How we use it
Only to run Hard Hat Weather: to make your calls, send your texts and emails, answer your questions, and bill you. We don't use it for advertising, and we never sell it.
Text messages and phone numbers
We never sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or text message consent for anyone else's marketing.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, other than the service providers that deliver our messages for us.
You can stop texts to your phone at any time by replying STOP. Our text message terms explain what we send and how often.
Who helps us run it
Our website host, Netlify, receives sign-up forms. We keep your account records in Google Sheets, send email through Gmail, and use Google Maps to find the locations of your job site addresses. Weather data comes from the National Weather Service and, for the monthly comparison with normal, from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information; we send them map locations, never your name or contact details. Our texting provider, Telnyx, delivers texts, and PayPal handles billing and payments. Each uses your information only to provide its service to us.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your details while you use Hard Hat Weather. When you cancel, we delete your job sites and phone numbers within 60 days, except records we have to keep, like billing records and proof that someone agreed to get texts. You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at any time.
Trying it on our website
If you check a job site or field on the Hard Hat Weather or Field Day Weather page, or add one to the demo dashboard, your browser sends what you type to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim address search, and the location to the National Weather Service. We don't receive or store it. Job sites you add to the demo stay in your own browser.
We count page visits and a few anonymous actions, like a job site check or a sign-up, with GoatCounter. It doesn't use cookies, and the counts never include what you typed or where your job sites are.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll tell customers before it takes effect.
